If the forecasts come to fruition, solar PV will grow from relatively modest contribution to the energy supplied in the NEM currently to a sizeable proportion – which has the potential to have a number of impacts on the overall operation of the market, and the physical system.
We’re just completing an intensive process of reviewing what happened over summer 2012-13 in Queensland, a period of great market volatility for a variety of different reasons. Amongst the factors we have investigated, in terms of their contributions, is the effect of the current installed capacity of solar PV across the state.
