Understanding the electricity market – for solar businesses Set your business up for a sustainable future by understanding how increased penetration of solar PV could impact on wholesale market dynamics in the future. If the forecasts come to fruition, solar PV will grow from relatively modest contribution to the energy supplied in the NEM currently to a sizeable proportion – which has the potential to have a number of impacts on the overall operation of the market, and the physical system. We’re just completing an intensive process of reviewing what happened over summer 2012-13 in Queensland, a period of great market volatility for a variety of different reasons. Amongst the factors we have investigated, in terms of their contributions, is the effect of the current installed capacity of solar PV across the state. Paul will discuss the results of this investigation. Paul is an engineer who has spent more than 20 years working in electricity markets in around the world. GLOBAL-ROAM serves over 100 clients including power generators (black, brown, red, blue and green), energy retailers, coal and gas supply companies, government departments, investors and investment banks, and large energy users.
